Waverley Market (princes mall)
(
Worth Seeing
)
Waverley Market, recently renamed Princes Mall, was opened in 1984 and occupies the site of the old vegetable market, which
was displaced in the 19th century by a market hall used for concerts and exhibitions. This familiar landmark was demolished
to make way for today's functional granite structure, whose flat roof, level with Princes Street, houses Edinburgh's main
tourist office. The speciality shopping mall, with over 80 shops, is a good place to hunt for more unusual clothes and gifts.
There's a convenient food court as well, good for a quick lunch in between sightseeing.
